A History of Baptists as Preached by Brother Jeff Faggert

Joshua 4:1-7

1 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jor'-dan, that the LORD spake unto Josh'-u-a saying,
2 Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe of man.
3 And command them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jor'-dan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.
4 Then Josh'-u-a called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Is'-ra-el, out of every tribe of man:
5 And Jomidst of jor'-dan, and take you up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the sh'-u-a said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the number of the tribes of the children of Is'-ra-el:
6 That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their father's in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
7 Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jor'-dan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, when it passes over Jor'-dan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Is'-ra-el.

Joshua 4:19-24

19 And the people came up out of Jor'-dan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gil'-gal, in the east border of Jer'-i-cho.

20 And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jor'-dan did Josh'-u-a pitch in Gil'-gal.

21 And he spake unto the children of Is'-ra-el, saying, When the children ask their fathers in time to come, What mean these stones?

22 Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Is'-ra-el came over this Jor'-dan on dry land.

23 For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jor'-dan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:

24 That all of the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.

-God used Baptists to create religious liberty.

-Baptists live strictly by the law of the Bible.

-Rhode Island was the first Baptist colony/state

-Rhode Island and all Baptist are conducting a living experiment

-Baptists were put in prison in England for being non-conformists

-The United States Constitution does not protect against religious persecution. It says that man cannot give us our rights. It is there to recognize that God has already given us those rights. (a fact that George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln believed in and built this country around)

-The U.S. Constitution was created on the foundation of Bible beliefs and principles.

-The burning of the British ship "Gadspee" during the Boston Tea party was caused by a boat load of Baptists led by Preacher John Brown (who lit the explosive changes) for religious liberty. (It was not caused by colonialists that were descised as Idians because they did not want to be recognized)

-During the war between the colonies and England, British soldiers were told to shoot preacher on site.

-Preacher Richard Furman was wanted "Dead or Alive" by the British.

-General Cornwallas feared Richard Furman's prayers more than any other weapon of destruction in the war for independence and freedom/religious liberty.

-True Christians will obey the law of God above the law of man no matter what the law of man or nations say.

-During that same war between the colonies and England three Preachers were arrested and tried as desturbers of the peace for preaching strait from the word of God.

-Preacher Patric Henry road for three days without sleep so that he could defend the three Baptist Preachers that had been arrested for preaching the Bible.

-Let out preacher be a memorial.

-Let our teaching be a memorial.

-Baptist Preachers were jailed, tortured, and persecuted for preaching the word of God.

-Those brave men should be our example.

-We should live in the service of God.

-We should be willing to do whatever it takes to preserve our faith.

Attack on Christianity

Thou shalt not mention specific deities in public prayers.
What an outrage!!!

Unfortunately, it is a statement of fact. Actually, it is a policy that was put into action in the late months of 2008 by the Virginia Police Department restricting their chaplains from worshiping as their faith mandates. Banning them from praying in the name of God. It states that the men of Christian religion on the force can no longer use the words "Jesus" or "Christ" while praying in public venues.
The department says that they are trying to respect the rights of the different cultures, religions, and people by discarding the use of these words in prayer. Well, what about the rights of the God fearing Christian Baptists on that force. Don't they have rights too? Why are their opinions and beliefs not important?
These officials say that these new nondenominatial prayers are better because they will be inoffencive to the general public. I say that that is a pack of lies from Satan himself trying to devide this country. He always starts with the little things. We all would do well to remember that. I am offended by this policy because it violates the chaplains' First Ammendment Right: the freedom of expression.
I am also greatly offended by the fact that out of the seventeen chaplains on the Virginia Police Force, only six resigned their posts as chaplain. Only six!!! There is something seriously wrong with that picture. They are the few that were steadfast and unwilling to compromise their faith and belief system.
13-year State Trooper, Rex Carter, said of his fellow resignies, "There were several of us who felt that because of our convictions...about what the Bible says. (in the Bible it says to pray in Jesus' name) We couldn't agree to go along with the nondenominational prayer policy." This same officer said of himself, "I just felt that my faith, my Bible, and my convictions must be my guide. So I made a decision to resign from the program rather than participate in this generic prayer policy."
I commend these six individuals who are willing to stand and take up their crosses and follow the Lord.
Never compromise. Never back down. Don't sell out. Never give up. That is the attitude we should all have when it comes to these Attacks on Christianity.

The heart of a Missionary

Just as a warning to the people who read this blog. It's not meant for most because the majority won't be able to agree with the content I post. This is a site designed to inform its reader of current and historical events in the Christian world. It's meant to strengthen the faith and the conviction of Christian readers and, maybe, just maybe, win a few to Christ. If you don't like the things that I write on this page then you shouldn't be reading it and you should go to someone else's blog. If you dare to read futher I promise that the cause is worth it. I offer this up as a challenge that is not for the faint of heart. Take up your cross and follow Jesus. For He is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE.
